Its annual Nature Conservation Research Award was created in 2003 to celebrate the company's 20th anniversary. Endowed with 5,000 Swiss francs in total, the Award celebrates excellence, originality, or particular practical relevance in scientific achievement impacting nature conservation and landscape protection in Central Europe. The University of Vienna intends to increase the number of women on its faculty, particularly in high-level positions, and therefore specifically invites applications by women. Among equally qualified applicants women will receive preferential consideration. The Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Vienna, is requesting applications for a full professorship in Conservation Biology to be based at the new Biodiversity Centre recently established adjacent to the Botanic Garden. Applicants must have an outstanding record in the theory and practice of conservation biology, along with competency in the use of modern quantitative techniques and other appropriate tools. Applicants should also have a strong background in relevant aspects of evolutionary biology, population ecology, biogeography, community ecology, or landscape ecology.
