We had a great discussion on fundraising, engagement, and chapter projects, and most people got great ideas from each other. Next quarterly business meeting call is Tuesday, September 13, 5pm-6:30pm PDT -- please mark your calendars! CHANGES After 8 years as Chair of the Chapters Committee, I have decided for medical and personal reasons to step back from SCB when my Board term ends in July. This was not an easy decision, but a necessary one. I have absolutely loved working with all of you and your predecessors (I midwifed about half the Chapters) -- you have taught me so much about what is possible when small groups of people want to make big differences in the world. And you do! I am constantly humbled and amazed by what you do as individuals and as Chapters -- you should hear me toot your horn with the global and Sections leaderships ;). Adina Merenlender will take over as Chair of the Chapters Committee starting July 1st. Adina has been affiliated with the Berkeley Chapter, is on SCB's Board of Governors (a requirement for committee chairs, and she has 2 years left on her current term), and is a big fan of Chapters. She and I started the joint Chapters-Section conferences when we were both on the NA Section Board, and she is now leading the 2012 NA Chapters-Section meeting. We met all day yesterday and she's now up to speed on almost everything regarding Chapters. I'll continue to help with the transition after my term ends until she's settled into her new role. Adina will bring a fresh energy and perspective as Chair, and I have full confidence in her abilities. Many many thanks to those of you who voted for me during my run for a 2nd Board term. I would have loved to continue on the Board, but a call from my doctor shortly before the end of the election made it clear that that wasn't possible. I apologize for not being able to follow through, but so appreciate your support. Eight years ago, there were just a handful of Chapters, many felt quite lost, and attrition was bad. Now there are almost 40 Chapters with about 1500 collective members, you are strong and sustainable and have awesome activities, and there's much more cooperation and partnerships among Chapters and with other parts of SCB. Please continue to do the great work you do, and make me proud! I'm happy to answer any questions. You can continue to reach me via this listserv until July 5, and by personal email. Much aloha, my friends and colleagues! :) Fiona > Dr. Fiona Nagle Management Consultant for Nonprofits and Small Businesses "Your Catalyst for Positive Change" Board of Governors, Society for Conservation Biology (www.conbio.org) Chair, Chapters Committee, Society for Conservation Biology (www.conbio.org/chapters) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
