This document replaces the previous Section, Chapter, and Working Group Handbooks. In addition to combining the three previous documents into one, we have made important revisions. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the contents of this document, so that it may serve as a useful reference tool as you help to lead SCB. This document was developed in response to the Society's global growth and increasing complexity. As the Society expands, consistent procedures and operations are absolutely necessary to maintain our legal and tax exempt status in the US. In addition, only with consistent operations and coordination across groups within SCB will we ensure organizational stability, efficient use of resources, and a strong reputation with our members, funders, and partners. Effective immediately, we request that all SCB Groups operate consistently with the procedures and guidelines in this document. The most current version of these documents can always be found on the SCB Intranet, http://www.conbio.org/intranet/ click on "Procedures & Guidelines Documents." The most current version always supersedes all previous versions. This is a living document and will be changed and adapted as the Society changes and grows. We welcome your comments and suggestions for future versions.
