The system is designed to understand the interactions among pandas, people and policies. This system simulates the dynamics of human population, household fuelwood consumption, fuelwood production of thinning forest plantations, and the impact of fuelwood collection on panda habitat in Wolong Nature Reserve, China. You can change model parameters used in the simulations mentioned above. All the parameters together are treated as a scenario, which can be interpreted as a set of policy interventions. I predefined four scenarios A, B, C, and D. Please evaluate them by clicking the tab Evaluate Scenarios at the lower left corner! Wow provides a decision support tool for you to evaluate those scenarios based on your perception of the ecological, economic, and social impacts of those scenarios. With the evaluations from decision makers / stakeholders like you, we can rank the scenarios and find the best preferred. Please visit the system at http://panda.csis.msu.edu/wow/ for details on the system. Particularly, ? For how to use the system, please click the menu Help-> User Manual at the upper-left corner; ? For evaluating the four scenarios, please click the menu Help -> Scenario Evaluation ? To run the system, please click the menu WOW -> Run it Please email me at heguangm at msu.edu if you have any questions and comments. Appreciate your time and efforts of using the system and evaluating the four scenarios. Please also feel free to forward this link to whoever or any email lists you think appropriate.
